Violaine Tisseau, Doctor of History, Paris Diderot University - CESSMA Laboratory (formerly SEDET),
is a researcher at the CNRS and is a member of the Intitut du Monde Africain - IMAF (UMR 8171).
She is currently pursuing work in social history of Madagascar in the XIXe & XXe centuries,
focusing particularly on the history of the family and domestic life.
The book centered on the colonial moment (1896-1960),
dating back to the pre-colonial XIXe century to show
how colonization built the "Métis" category.
